Communication

We want you to enjoy designing and building your new custom home. It starts with setting clear expectations on the process, listening closely to what you want and expect from us, and then making sure that we over communicate throughout the entire experience from start to finish.

We feel it is especially important that we share our thoughts and comments on the selection of your home site and plan. The land purchase is the most critical part of the process and can positively or adversely effect the success of you achieving your dreams. Bad-news fast is a key watchword for us. We must keep you informed at all times, regardless of how it affects our bottom line.

Complimentary Consultation

After completing the Custom Home Questionnaire we will meet with you to conduct a thorough evaluation of your home building project. We want to understand where you stand today with your home-site, financing, architecturals, and the reasons behind your desire to build a custom home. This ensures that we can make the proper recommendations from the very beginning and helps us know how WE CAN BEST help you achieve your goals

Preliminary Design Development

Now that we have determined where to begin, we will be assisting you with finding the perfect home-site, assisting you with obtaining financing, and/or beginning the design of your new custom home. Clients come to us at all different stages of the process and we are equipped to handle every situation. We work with award winning architects and designers along with the best construction and permanent financing partner available in the market. Once completed, we start working on your one-of-a-kind design. Once completed we will provide a preliminary estimate for the project.

Construction Documents And Final Development

Now that the preliminary estimated plans are completed, we begin working on your final project documents to ensure that we produce a buildable package. The plans will be completed and reviewed for accuracy, all necessary steps are taken to create your final budget, and you visit with our designer to put the finishing touches on your dream home.

Project Orientation Meeting

We are ready to start building and you will meet with your Project Manager that will be assigned to building your home. This meeting is designed to make sure we have been thorough on transferring your vision onto paper and that everyone involved is clear on what you expect. At this meeting we also set expectations on what you can expect from us. This is a team process and we want everyone involved to start on the same page, enjoy the process, and finish with a smile on their faces.

Pre-drywall Orientation

You and your Project Manager will meet at the home prior to drywall being installed. This is a critical phase of construction. This meeting ensures that from here to the finish line will be smooth and painless. It is also the time to make certain that your vision is being created the way you wanted. If changes or revisions need to be made, this is the meeting to address them. We want to make sure that all aspects of the home are addressed and finished selections are confirmed. It’s all downhill from here.

Completion Orientation

It is now time to present to you your dream home. Our goal is to present a move-in ready home. We will introduce you to your home, instruct you on how everything works, how to extend the life of your home with maintenance techniques, and explain in detail our 1-2-10 warranty and process.

Preclosing Orientation

Prior to going to closing we have the home professionally cleaned and make sure the home is 100% completed to your satisfaction. We review the warranty process again, answer any questions you may have, and make sure you are clear on the closing process and what to expect. Once closed, a BK Hudson representative will be available to hand you your keys and welcome you to your new home.
